– В крае не очень много лесов – 129 тысяч гектаров, из них 15 тысяч гектаров – это городские леса: десять – на Кавминводах и пять – в Ставрополе. Однако проблема сохранения этого мизерного количества стоит очень остро, – отметил министр природных ресурсов и охраны окружающей среды Ставропольского края Анатолий Батурин. – Что же касается Мамайского леса, то мы ведем экологический контроль с самого начала. Подрядчику необходимо было получить разрешение на работы с перемещением грунта в пределах водного объекта, что не было сделано. И губернатор дал поручение наказать виновных за данное нарушение природоохранного законодательства. Административное расследование завершено. За нарушение водного законодательства на строительную организацию наложено административное взыскание в виде штрафа в размере 10 тысяч рублей и 1 тысячи рублей на должностное лицо городской администрации – Андрея Лазуткина.

Сам заместитель руководителя комитета городского хозяйства Андрей Лазуткин вины не отрицал, но поспешил успокоить журналистов и активную общественность, сказав, что администрация действует в рамках закона. Кроме того, специалисты минприроды подсчитали реальное количество вырубленных деревьев – порядка 1100, в то время как экологи-активисты называли в десять раз больше. Вместе с «Экологическим патрулем» лесники прошагали по просекам, предлагаемым общественниками в качестве альтернативного пути для прокладки коммуникаций. Однако расчеты показали, что на данных участках из-за высокой плотности деревьев, ущерба лесу могло быть гораздо больше.
Представитель «Экологического патруля» Андрей Евдокимов с приведенными аргументами и данными расчетов согласился. Но высказал сожаление о том, что все спорные моменты не были урегулированы с общественностью раньше в рамках «мирного» диалога.
